TOPIC: Adventure/road trips/thrill rides/ etc.. Anyone??

Hi,

I am new to RTP area and I am working here currently. I do understand the rich culture out here with the temples and stuff. But at the end of the day I am just a simple fun loving person who likes to spend good times outside the religious/cultural stuff.

I am sure there are other people like this in this area. Please suggest me some ideas on ways to spend time here in this great area. It will be great to meet like minded people and have a great time.

Welcome to RTP. What kind of stuff do you like? Meanwhile try the following -

1. There are many cricket clubs around if you like cricket. Similarly, folks play volley ball, soccer..
2. Try Professional Indians Associations. Rishi is very active and organizes atlest one event every month - www.meetup.com/PIATriangle/

I can tell you one thing about this place - it os very slow. Other than sports activities, mall, movies there is really nothing much in this place. We have been here 11 years and still look for things to do in this place. Very slow. Other may or may not agree. But that is what we think.

That's a debateable topic - depends on one's priorities, interests & lifestyle.

For raising a family, I think it's an ideal place.

1. Good Schooling
2. Good & Vibrant Indian Community
3. Volunteering Opportunities
4. Real Estate
5. Restaurants

Definitely this place lacks a vibrant downtown area.

You are pointing out advantages of this place other than "fun things to do in this place" which was what I was responding to. This place is definitely good for raising kids, Indian community etc. However on a Fri/Sat evening there are really not many choices for fun things to do. Malls close at 9. Coffee shops ice cream shops close at 9. Nothing much to do really other than socialize.

Again as I said it depends on one's lifestyle/interests:

1. Bowling Parlors are open till late.
2. Movie Theatres are open till late - Theatres are pretty much state-of-the-art.
3. Malls closing @ 10pm is common, I think across US - of course I don't go malling (I mean shopping) when I can do the same from the comfort of my home.
4. Ice-cream shops like DQ are open till 11pm on Fri/Sat
5. Most starbucks are open till 10-11pm.
6. Pizza, Beer Bars are open till late.

Are you looking specifically for something happening or kind-of night-life? Since during day-time you could do so much that by late evenings you are pretty much done!
