BD Topic Author	What do you want to do in the beach? If it is just getting into the water then try Jordan Lake (South West of Raleigh) or Falls Lake (North east of Raliegh). They are with in 30 minutes, have decent beaches.

beachlover Topic Author	all-THANKS for the information! @BD , Samosa- we want to enjoy the atmosphere, surroundings and the sound of the waves! I personally don't think lakes give such a beachy feeling

Looks like Wilmington beach is the closest beach. Its little over 2 hours. Long weekends the traffic will be bumper to bumper and takes longer time. I was there once and I liked the beach.
